Harties offers a lot of fun and interesting activities to keep both young and old entertained so, before your next visit, be sure to check out our list of the Best Things To Do In Harties (in no particular order).
Almost Orange
Nestled amidst a working citrus orchard, Almost Orange is a picturesque destination that’s well worth the drive. Imagine dining under the shade of orange trees, especially when they’re in full bloom. This unique setting makes it the perfect spot for a romantic date, birthday celebration, or anniversary.
Harties Cable Way
This is a definite must when you visit Harties! If you are looking to find the best spot to take in all of the stunning and panoramic views of Harties and its surroundings, the Harties Cableway is just the activity for you! To be quite honest, most of my ride in the cable car was done with my eyes closed as I am absolutely petrified of heights, but once I had opened my eyes and taken in the beautiful views of Hartbeespoort Dam and the mountain range, I completely forgot about how far off the ground I was.

Ama Zwing Zwing Canopy Tours
If you are looking for some adventure and a fix of adrenaline, then make sure you book an exciting outing canopying! The first time I tried this, I was super-nervous, but after the first few zips from platform to platform, you get the hang of it and just want to do it all over again! Just be sure to take along a cap and apply loads of sunscreen – from experience, sunburn after a day of canopying is not fun!
Elephant Sanctuary Hartebeespoort Dam
The Elephant Sanctuary offers a once-in-a-lifetime experience you will never forget! A few years back, my family and I had the privilege of walking with elephants and feeding them their favourite treats. This is honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had! I knew elephants are large creatures but I truly had no idea how big they actually were in person! You can also opt to ride on an elephant’s back for an extra special experience.
Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary
While you are paying a visit to the elephant sanctuary, why not also head next door to the Bush Babies Monkey Sanctuary and pay all of the monkeys a visit too? This monkey sanctuary is one of only eight free-release primate sanctuaries in the world. Visitors can enjoy guided tours through the sanctuary and learn much more about many different types of monkeys. This is a spot I am definitely planning on visiting when I head back to Harties for a fun-filled day out.
Lesedi Culture Village
To get in touch with our South African heritage, be sure to pay Lesedi Culture Village a visit as you make your way to Harties. En route to Hartbeespoort Dam and Sun City, Lesedi Culture Village offers you the opportunity to learn a bit more about the different tribes in our country. You will see traditional dance and song, traditional attire, housing and even traditional foods. I have seen this place on the way to Harties, but think it’s actually time to visit and see what it’s all about!
Ukutula Lion Park and Lodge
This one is a definite must-do on my bucket list! Head to the Ukutula Lion Park and get the opportunity to walk with the king of the jungle! Take a guided bush walk with lions or enjoy some one-on-one time with these majestic creatures with the Lion Interaction Programme.

Hartebeespoort Snake and Animal Park
This spot is home to a large variety of animals and a huge collection of reptiles! And, after visiting all of the animals, enjoy a speed boat cruise or a ferry ride on the dam. Visitors can see a great variety of species including lions, tigers and other big cats. Visitors will also see chimpanzees and other primates, hyenas, wild dogs, otters, birds and reptiles.
