With HÄRT was Joburg's first vegan bakery, but the depth of flavour you'll find here is enough to fool even the most die-hard omnivore. Twix cookies, Biscoff layer cakes, tiramisu macarons, pastries dripping with berries and custard...you get the picture.
Comic Cafe (formerly Kaylee’s)
Vegans of Bedfordview were heartbroken when chef Kaylee announced her relocation, but we have good news! Many of the original staff and vegan menu items remain at the beloved eatery, now called Comic Cafe. Kaylee herself designed the dedicated vegan menu, so your favourite plant-based haven is still there for you whenever the craving hits.
The Jozi Vegan
The Jozi Vegan offers a flavour-packed menu full of plant-based goodness, and recently announced the addition of vegan omelettes! Yes, you heard that right. Every bite celebrates clean, conscious eating. Gluten-free options and takeaway meals mean anyone can enjoy the deliciousness whenever and wherever they'd like!
The Fussy Vegan
The Fussy Vegan started behind a garage in Blairgowrie, and now has branches at CityROCK and in Greenside! We love the variety here: you'll find both health-forward, nutrition-packed meals and vegan iterations of popular fast food. Our favourite menu items are definitely the rib burger and the poke bowl with crispy cashews, edamame beans and fresh mango. Mmm.
Leafy Greens Café
You'll find Leafy Greens in Muldersdrift, using organic, home-grown produce to cook up tasty vegan meals that we can't get enough of. The menu offers a wide variety of dishes for you to explore, as well as a buffet we love. Try it out for yourself!
Fresh Earth Café
You don't even need to be vegan to go nuts over Fresh Earth Café. The menu caters for just about every dietary requirement under the sun, from gluten allergies to diabetes. Our favourite things? The weekly harvest table and massive selection of sourdough doughnuts that earned them a spot on our list of Joburg's best bakeries.
