#JustChill at Delta Café and Don Quixote

Joburg Admin / May 31, 2022

It can be difficult to unwind in the City of Gold. Weekends are often dictated by family obligations, braais with friends, or the hottest events. Take some time to chill out and enjoy a slower pace of life at Delta Café and Don Quixote. This country style café is idyllically situated; offering patrons the chance to soak up marvelous Joburg sunsets and picturesque views. Their food is equally as good. Whether you join them for an early breakfast, midday meal or serene dinner, you'll be glad you came. Did we mention that they are child and dog-friendly as well? Delta Café and Don Quixote is the perfect place to relax and recharge, so book yourself a table as soon as you can.

Two Venues, One Ethos

Delta Café was established in 2014 as a small, independent café. With the support of their loyal patrons, the restaurant was able to expand their offerings. They are now Delta Café and Don Quixote - a two venue restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even as they have grown over the years, their ethos has remained the same. They believe in giving back by creating employment opportunities for individuals of all backgrounds. All of their staff are first time waitrons or hospitality workers. This does not detract from the service here. In fact, you will be pleasantly surprised by the standard of service excellence at the café. It's even more reason to sit back and enjoy the natural surrounds without a care.

Delta Cafe's motto is "Just Chill". They encourage all their patrons to take a few deep breaths and destress from their busy lives. This is easily achievable while waiting for your food to arrive. There is no fast food here; only good food done right. It's country style to the core, so don't expect a quick meal. The entire point of dining out at Delta Café is to savour every moment. This is where special memories are made with family, friends and fur babies. Make sure to bring your camera along to capture them all.

Slow food is good food

The café menu is wide ranging and caters to a variety of tastes and dietary choices. We've heard great reviews of their breakfasts. Their French Toast is particularly well renowned. Freshly baked brioche bread soaked in a velvety custard, cooked in tons of butter and served with Chantilly cream and berry compote. We can't imagine anything more indulgent and satisfying.

If you happen to miss the breakfast window, fret not. Delta Café and Don Quixote serves a divine lunch selection. Their pizzas are the standout menu item. The bases are made from 100% stoneground non-GMO flour and are slow fermented over 36 hours. Toppings vary from traditional to daring. If you are in the mood to try something new and exciting, order their blue cheese and pear pizza. The combination of tangy blue cheese, sweet pears and caramelised onions sounds absolutely divine. We'll be by soon to give it a try.

Fun and games

Join in on a game of fun Boules while you wait for your food to arrive. Delta Café has its very own boules area complete with two sets of balls and Jacks. Players over the age of 16 are invited to play a game or two while their food is lovingly prepared. The little ones can clamber around on the kiddies playground or take a pony ride. These activities do come at an extra cost, but it will be well worth it to see the joy on your child's face. You can find out more about the entertainment and activities available at Delta Café and Don Quixote on their website.
