The Station Has Arrived In Parkhurst

Joburg Admin / December 3, 2020

Situated in Joburg's most popular culinary strip, 4th Avenue Parkhurst, The Station opened its doors to the public in mid-November. Modeled after the legendary London Underground tube travel network, the restaurant started out as a lovely little bistro and bar in Bree Street, Cape Town. With the formal introduction out of the way, let's dive right into it, shall we? The Station

A Little Bit Of London In Joburg

Founded by Neil Basel, The Station is inspired by London style living, complete with decor and design that would make any Brit feel at home. The theme is inspired by the colours, sights and sounds that the London Underground has to offer. The decor features the trademark Underground seating and a station map. There’s also a red telephone booth and even speakers in the bathroom playing the sounds of the Underground.

It's More than Fish, Chips & Mushy Peas At The Station

It's been said that British food is quite bland and as exciting as eel pie sounds, we'll give it a skip. Fortunately for us, the menu at The Station in Parkhurst sings like the Sex Pistols and we're loving it. If you dig spicy food then you're in for a treat!  We recommend that you start off with the London Hot Eye Beef Pan which consists of cubed sirloin in a creamy peri-peri sauce, served with in-house baked ciabatta. Moving on to the all-important mains, add a bit of classic UK flair, we recommend that you hook yourself up with a delicious Kingsley Kebab! Yup, there's chicken or beef (or both!), and comes served with tzatziki, hummus, a spicy tomato salsa, and a lekker slice of freshly made pita bread. Give the Chicken Kiev, drenched in Parmesan and truffle mushroom sauce, a go - it's winner times ten... just like The Station! The Station

150 Gins At The Station

Yup, you read that correctly - a whole 150 of them. The Station’s gin menu, which offers visitors the chance to DIY their own G&T - from brand to botanicals, the sky's the limit. Above and beyond the impressive gin selection, The Station also offers a massive cocktail menu as well as a collection of local and international beers and ciders... and we're sure if you ask nicely they'll serve your beer at room temperature like a real Englishman would prefer.
