Explore Linksfield

Est. Reading: 3 minutes
On the north-eastern border of Joburg lies one of our most loved suburbs. Linksfield has undergone some serious resurgence in recent years and has become a hot spot for foodie adventures, outdoor escapades, and retail therapy. Come along with us as we explore this emerging hub.

For many years Linksfield was nothing more than a thoroughfare to more interesting parts of the city. In recent times it has emerged as a top spot for food, fun, and entertainment. We took a meander through the area to find its best restaurants, retail centres, and outdoor attractions. We were delighted by what we found and thought it wise to share it with our devoted readers. The next time you're on the hunt for something to do in the north-east corner of the city, head over to Linksfield. You'll discover a world of eclectic cuisines, family-friendly entertainment, and convenient shopping. What more could you possibly need?

Food & Drink

The biggest drawcard to any area is its food and drink options. Linksfield boasts a number of top quality restaurants, bakeries, and coffee shops. Some of our favourite places to eat out in the area include George's Grill House, Ribs & Burgers, and Er Buco Italian Restaurant. For a one-of-a-kind dining experience in Linskfield, we recommend The Old Oak Restaurant situated at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. This family-friendly eatery serves up a divine fusion of Mediterranean and South African fare. Their outdoor play area is top notch too, and will keep the little ones entertained for hours on end. We've rated it a rare hidden gem, so be sure to make a reservation as soon as you can.

Linskfield is also a hub for great coffee and yummy baked goods. Get your morning caffeine fix at Motherland Coffee or Latte Licious located at the Neighbourhood Square Shopping Centre. The Checkers Fresh Market at the centre also includes a piping hot coffee station to give you that extra kick you need to get through your shopping. If you're looking to slow things down a bit, stop by PAUL Bakery for the finest French pastries and perfectly frothy coffee. You'll never be without good food and premium roast coffee in this suburb, that's for sure.

Linksfield is relatively small, but it is by no means in short supply of entertainment. If you are an avid golfer, this should be your new weekend hangout. There are two magnificent golf courses in the area - Huddle Park Golf Course and Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club. Both courses offer spectacular views and ample fresh air, as well as a variety of on-site activities for the whole family. Huddle Park is also well known for its dog-friendly trails, mountain bike trails and recreational offerings. They've got everything from CrossFit to Acrobranch to help keep you in shape and challenge your physical strength. For mental strength, we highly recommend that you join a quiz night event at The Fat Ginger. It's just the right amount of mental challenge meets fun social event.
