The Greg Norman Championship Golf Course At Eye of Africa

Document

The 18-hole layout at the Eye of Africa Golf Club lies within an enormous residential property created by Australian golfing legend, Greg Norman. Let’s tee off and explore this magnificent course.

Arguably the most successful athlete-turned-businessman, Greg Norman is known for dominance on the golf course during the 80s and 90s. Greg now transcends the game of golf, with over a dozen companies around the world bearing his name and the iconic shark logo as part of the Greg Norman Company, which he leads as Chairman & CEO. His internationally recognised brand boasts more than 100 golf course designs across six continents, one of which can be found at the Eye of Africa Golf & Residential Estate just south of Johannesburg.

Come with us on a tour of this magnificent course designed by one of the sport’s most notorious players.

The Course

From the first tee to the eighteenth green, Greg Norman and his expert team have endeavoured to seamlessly integrate the course with its stunning natural surrounds and included extensive bunkering. This par 72 championship course spans over 7200 metres and is the fourteenth golf course designed by the legendary golfer “The Great White Shark”, built in collaboration with the award-winning international developers, Medallist. As is always the case, this Greg Norman-designed golf course, is set up to really challenge every golfer on the course and offer a true championship experience.

With the vast array of setup options, the wide fairways, and the beautiful A1A4 greens (a unique Greg Norman strain), the course offers a fair test to golfers of all abilities. The course is played as a continuous loop with the halfway house overlooking the beautiful 9th green. The original stables that are now at the entrance to the estate have been transformed into a quaint temporary clubhouse that has been constructed adjacent to the 300-yard driving range. The range sports target greens which can be used for a short “Mashie Course”. Any time you visit Eye of Africa, you’ll see golfers of contrasting ability enjoying the tranquil surrounding of this vast practice area, some indulging in the professional services of the PGA tutors on the range. The driving range and putting green are open from Tuesdays to Sundays.

Driving Range

Perfect to practice your swing or even to blow off some steam, the driving range at the Greg Norman-designed golf course is open from Tuesday to Sunday, Summer: 07:00 am to 17:30 and Winter: 07:30 am – 16:30. Full and half buckets are available at R30 for 25 balls and R50 for 55 balls. The driving range is open to members and residents.
