Gautrain understands that being a student can be expensive. And that savings matter during this time of an individual's life. Which is why they're giving students a 25% discount* on Gautrain fares between two destinations of their choice.
This means that you will save 25% on train trips between two stations on any day of the week, during peak and off-peak hours.
With this amazing discount, you have more cash to spend on whatever matters most to you, as a student.
How Gautrain's Student Discount Works
Interested in getting this discount? Then here's what you need to know! If you are a student, registered at an accredited institution of higher education in Gauteng, and are under the age of 25 – then you can apply.
The Student Promotion is only valid when your purchase the following products:
- Student 10 Trips: 10 train trips valid for a period of 20 days
- Student 44 Trips: 44 train trips valid for a period of 44 days
The Student Promotion 25% discount applies to train commutes between two chosen destinations when purchasing a student product. This excludes trips to OR Tambo International Airport.
The 25% discount is based on standard Gautrain peak orange fares.
Student Discount Terms & Conditions
- The student discount does not apply to bus/midi-bus trips, parking or train trips to other destinations; standard bus-rail discounts apply here.
- Students are to ensure that there is adequate value available on their Gautrain card for these services. Students can top up using the pay-as-you-go service.
