If you haven’t yet heard of the Big Red Barn in Irene, then you have been missing out! This antique hay barn, just 15-minutes from Centurion, is a phenomenal destination that provides an array of activities for all ages.

This is a fun-filled place to visit with the whole family. There's plenty to explore and experience, and the day is never long enough – no one ever wants to go home. Not only that, but it's also affordable entertainment, so you get to try a whole bunch of exciting activities without busting the bank. Plus, there’s a really cool giant wooden pirate ship in the kids’ playground and loads of space to play games. It makes a brilliant place to have a party, too!

Fun Activities For All Ages

There are plenty of exciting activities that visitors of all ages can enjoy when they visit the Big Red Barn! Here are a few that's sure to delight both young and the young at heart:

Puzzle Park

A new addition to the Big Red Barn, is Puzzle Park! This is where adventure awaits at every corner. You can expect to find two unique activities that are guaranteed to challenge both your body and mind. Put your brain to work and make your way through the thrilling 3D Maze and the captivating Forest Puzzle Walk. This is the perfect activity for teambuilding, birthday parties, family outings, and more!

Acrobranch

Acrobranch is always a win – an obstacle course through the trees that both children and adults can enjoy. Not only does it provide a variety of age-appropriate courses (suitable from age 3 upwards), but it also builds confidence and coordination, while also being a fantastic team-building experience.

We recommend that you book ahead as it can get busy. This is also a wonderful idea for a children’s birthday party.

Nino’S Go-Karts & Ninja Jump Park

If the kids are looking for even more adventure, Nino’s Adventures has lots of fun activities in store for them!

As part of the Pirate Ship kids play area, their electric go-kart track let's you kids have a blast whizzing around the circuit. Also, the go-karts are perfect for children from 2 years, parents can even ride along and help steer the kart.

There's also inflatable Bouncy Balls! Climb inside these balls and bump, bounce, and roll around the lawn. And for more bouncy fun, the jump park boasts 22 trampolines, where kids can jump and bounce from one trampoline to the next.

Big Red Barn Trails

Open daily from sunrise to sunset, the Big Red Barn Trails offer visitors a space to walk, run, cycle, and even take the doggos out on a lovely walk. It's the perfect place to get some fresh air, get active, and admire the scenery of the Eucalyptus-scented woods.

There are over 40km of scenic MTB, trail running and hiking trails that weave through the beautiful gumtree forest and across grasslands and farm fields. Dogs on a leash are welcome to walk the trails. Click here for costs.

Clay Café

Clay Café is the perfect haven for those looking for something a little more crafty to do. Choose a ceramic item – anything from figurines and décor items to plates, jugs and mugs – and enjoy a light meal, cappuccino or piece of cake while you paint.

We recommend that you get the whole family together and each paint a mug to take home! You can find them across the road from the Barn.

The Red Barn Café

The Red Barn Café offers guests beautiful views of the Eucalyptus forest, a spacious interior and sunny patios, and countryside cuisine.

Their menu offers everything from hearty breakfasts and delicious toasties to craft burgers and wood-fired pizza, every dish is generous and delicious.

There are also scrumptious quick bites for those on the go and convenient takeaways to take home with you.

Ludwig's Roses

Ludwig’s Roses is synonymous with a wide variety of beautiful rose bushes that continue to thrive when you get them home. This is the perfect spot to buy a few scented rose, rose care sprays, candles, diffusers, hand creams, soaps and even rose fudge!

The Irene Village Market

The Irene Village Market takes place on the first and last Saturday of the month. This beautiful market includes everything from crafts and artisanal foods to furniture, craft beer and wine.

We recommend that you make a day of it. Head to the market from 08:00 – 14:30 and spend the rest of the day enjoying the many other activities on offer at The Big Red Barn!
