Comic Con Africa Returns to Joburg This August!

Comic Con Africa is back for its sixth live iteration this year, and it’s bigger and better than ever. This annual convention, held this year from 28 to 31 August 2025 at the Johannesburg Expo Centre, has become the go-to event for both pop culture and gaming enthusiasts as well as families and fans from across the country.

Comic Con is Back!

Get ready to step into the world of pop culture at Comic Con Africa, the ultimate gathering for fans of comics, gaming, anime, superheroes, Cosplay, sci-fi, celebs, film and series, art, and so much more!

Comic Con Africa will take place from 28 to 31 August 2025 at the Joburg Expo Centre, Nasrec. Whether you’re a family searching for a different kind of fun day out, a Marvel or DC fanatic, a gamer looking to try out the latest titles, a comic collector, a film and series nut, or a bone fide maximum geek, there’s something for everyone.

Film and Series

International celebs like Misha Collins (Castiel in Supernatural), or Jessie T. Usher (A-Train in The Boys) will attend Comic Con Africa, and fans can book photo ops or signings with these legends. With more announcements in the pipeline, will you get to meet your ultimate hero?

Over 150 local and international artists and comic book creators are waiting to meet you. Q&As, panels, exciting Sketch Battles, and Live Draws are just some of what you can expect from these incredibly talented creators.

Cosplayers adorn the halls with highly accurate and intricate costumes of your favourite characters across pop culture. Expect to meet fans dressed as Spiderman, or pose with Deadpool and Wolverine – you never know who you might bump into at Comic Con Africa!

A sprawling gaming hall filled with tournaments, professional esports athletes, free-to-play zones, and exciting daily competitions is the definition of paradise for gamers.

Epic Activations – and Shopping!

Comic Con Africa brings fans exciting activations from their favourite pop culture brands. Attendees can shop collectibles, nostalgic memorabilia, consoles, toys and games, and loads more.
