In honour of our legendary former President, Nelson Mandela, and his life and love for our country, why not spread the love, do good and give back to the community on Nelson Mandela Day on 18 July with these events in and around Joburg? There’s something for everyone.

Ladles of Love

Date: Thursday, 18 July 2024 at 09:00 – 17:00.

A single day, a singular objective, and an abundance of love. Their mission is to establish a global record, and they require your assistance. Ladles of Love aspires to gather the largest assembly of volunteers dedicating 67 minutes of their time towards fashioning items that foster the well-being, development, and growth of children.

Ashraful Aid

Date: Thursday, 18 July 2024 at 09:00.

Join Ashraful Aid on 18 July at The Wanderers Stadium and make a real difference in their community. They are aiming to pack 5,000 food hampers to bring hope and sustenance to countless families in need.

Mandela Day at Woodrock Animal Rescue

Date: Thursday, 18 July – Saturday, 20 July 2024.

Calling all animal lovers! Woodrock Animal Rescue in Hennops River Valley is hosting a special Mandela Day event to celebrate compassion and community. Lend a hand (and a brush!) by helping create a vibrant wall mural that embodies Ubuntu, the South African philosophy of togetherness, a fitting tribute to Mandela’s spirit. Can’t wield a paintbrush? No worries! Donations to their wishlist will ensure the shelter animals have everything they need.

This Mandela Day, join the fight against hunger with FoodForwardSA. In honour of Nelson Mandela’s unwavering dedication to service, they’re partnering with organisations across South Africa to tackle food insecurity, a critical issue impacting countless communities.
