Find Your Favourite Street Food At These Restaurants

Joburg Admin / June 27, 2019

Mzansi has really warmed up to the idea of markets, and it's no surprise that the love for street food has grown so much. Then again, why wouldn't you fall in love with the diverse and delicious Street Food that they make? The moment you walk into a market, your mouth waters and you instantly get hungry from all the aroma and just food porn in general. I personally love markets for the vibes and mostly the food, it allows for us explorers who want a bit of everything (okay! maybe everything) to taste and have fun with our palates. The most difficult thing about it is always waiting until the market days before you can enjoy the food that you love the most. So let's check out some of the stalls that actually have restaurants or travelling food stalls.

Soul Souvlaki

Soul Souvlaki has been around for a while and to this day there are many who don't know that they have restaurants that offer the amazing food that they serve at markets. I happen to be one of the people that had a Soul Souvlaki right under my nose and I only found out it's been in Craighall for a while. They have branches in Parktown, Bedfordview as well as Maboneng. My first encounter with this slice of heaven was at the Market on Main and I was taken by their food - value for money. They really take Greek food to another level by adding that soul touch.

Smoking Kills Bar

This has to be the best combination of a bar and street food. The first thing that caught my attention about Smoking Kills Bar was exactly that - their name. Just like their name suggests, they don't do average; probably the most unique look and feel to go for, even their barmen are very unique. Their menu is just all about unique so if you are looking for a spot that has flavour, they are definitely the one - they had me at pulled pork. This spot situated in the bustling student hub, Melville so pay them a visit to witness their rebel groovy vibe. Balkan Burger

They are not exactly the "Stay at home joint" as they move around, but Balkan Burger is worth it. This amazing food stall/truck is normally at the markets. However, if you want to have some of their deliciousness, please follow them on their social pages. They move around Joburg and are always ready to serve up some goodness. Just an FYI: they also do catering for events in case you want to share the yummy on a bigger scale. With all that said, I hope that you have received much hope from the above and now you can stop having unstoppable cravings during the week because of the weekend waiting. street food To all the street food lovers out there, here's a little gesture from me to you!
