This week on our My Joburg: The City Through The Eyes of a Local series, we’ll be chatting to Joburg's coffee aficionado, The Joburg Coffee Dude. Keep reading to find out about Anton and his beloved companion, Coco, their adventures on the Joburg coffee scene, their favourite spots and experiences in Joburg, and where to get the best coffee in the city.

About The Joburg Coffee Dude
Known simply as The Joburg Coffee Dude, Anton has become known for his Instagram page that's as much as a guide to great coffee spots in Joburg, as it is a celebration of the city's coffee community. Anton has grown to become a trusted voice for coffee enthusiasts across Johannesburg.
In Joburg's coffee scene, he's known for two things: a passion for a perfectly brewed cup and his constant companion – a little dog named Coco (@coco_the_cutie_jhb), who's as much a part of the adventure as he is.
Describe your ultimate night out?
For me, the ultimate night out is going to either Sandton City or Melrose Arch for a nice dinner. And then after, walking around and grabbing either some coffee or ice cream.

Where can we find the best cup of coffee?
As the Joburg Coffee Dude, this is right up my alley. I will give you my top 3 coffee spots in Joburg: Naked Coffee, Cult Coffee, and Yaawk.
What is your favourite local store?
Big Blue in Rosebank. It's just such a proper South African store with the most proudly South African merchandise. Always find the coolest things there.

Favourite spot for a date night?
Well, being single, this isn't something I know to much about. If I had a girlfriend, I would like to think a place like Big Mouth at Nelson Mandela Square would be perfect. Beautiful spot and good sushi.
Your favourite adrenaline packed activity is?
Have to say the rollercoasters at Gold Reef City. Have always been a fan since my younger days.

Where is a must visit place for a first-timer?
I think a first timer must visit the Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve. It's not far and you get a proper wildlife experience just outside of the city.
Do you have any weekend traditions?
A run with one of the local running clubs, lots of coffee at one of my top 3 coffee spots, and taking my dog, Coco, for a walk at either James and Ethel Gray Park or Delta Park.
