Where To Eat This March 2018

Joburg Admin / February 22, 2018

The Green Craft Bar Imagine there was a place where you could get top craft beer draughts that don't cost an arm and a leg. Meet the Green Craft Bar - the multi-location beer bar you've been waiting for. Good food, great suds, and an environment not taken over by dudes dressed as lumber jacks. Their flagship shop at the Benoni Country Club (they also have branches in Glenvista and Modderfontein), is well worth a visit the month. The menu is off the charts - think bar food but with a gourmet twist. The Green Craft Bar serves chicken wings with mash, slap chips or crisps, something called Benoni Cherries (which is pretty much mince and risotto rolled into balls), chicken and beef tacos, Haloumi wraps, a beautiful butternut and peach salad (which is off the hook, by the way), and a pulled pork pita. The Mad Nomand in Midrand offers urfa kebabs, pide (flatbread) combinations, and lamb shanks that will leave you dreaming. The vibe is super sleek, so dress the part (now you can finally wear that baby blue tux of yours)! Introducing flavours from East African, chef Coco (the guy behind Sel et Poivre), is taking on the Sandton palate with his latest offering, Épicure. At the time of writing Epicure is not yet open (they are waiting for a liquor license) but folks can expect fine a la carte dining, culinary art, Afritapas food, a rum bar, cigar space fitted with a humidor, al fresco eating and even morning-fresh and healthy dishes! Sure, they've been around for years but we don't need an excuse to go bananas on their black mushroom and blue cheese gnocchi (the gnocchi is made in-house) or roast lamb pizza with extra chilli! Angelo's is a family business, and you know we always recommend that you #SupportLocal. More Details: http://angelos-kitchen-sloane.business.site/ Ciao - The Little Eatery Ciao is a little deli type vibe in Melrose Arch that's packing a big hunger busting punch for its size. We're talking old school bagels stuffed with salmon and cream cheese, brand spanking new bubble waffles topped with ice cream and chocolate, and smoothies so soft and simple that you can't help but slurp them so loud that your mom yells at you all the way from Roodepoort. Ciao is also big on salads, so if you're in the mood for a gourmet salad then hit them up the next time you find yourself in the Arch. Kraal Restaurant is a masterpiece waiting to be discovered. Their a la carte menu is something so pretty that it's on par with a poem Lord Byron wrote before he got kicked out of England... yeah, let's just go with that analogy, shall we? Beyond the beautiful beef, lamb and chicken burgers, toasted sandwiches and tramezzinis, there lies a kitchen that is capable, waiters that are passionate, and a venue so pretty that it is on par with a Lord Byron... wait... we've done that one already... anyway. The crux is, go check it out - we're sure you will fall in love with the place. You know, #NoRegrets2018. More Details:http://www.thabahotel.co.za/restaurant/kraal-restaurant/ By Shawn Greyling
