There’s a zero bias philosophy at 1441 Combat, and there’s no tolerance of ego, intimidation, or disrespect in their classes. They strive to create and build a close-knit community of like-minded people that not only encourages people, but also supports them.

1441 Combat’s Classes

They offer two main classes, being The Kalah Combat System and Krav Maga. These classes cater to men, women, and children above a certain age.

The Kalah Combat System

Self-defence comes in many different forms, but none are as true to real life as the Kalah Combat System. These are intense 60-minute classes that mould your mind to perform under extreme pressure, while your body instinctively responds to the threat. Kalah, founded by Idan Abolnik, has revolutionised self-defence, bringing reality-based training to the forefront.

The Kalah Combat System is not suitable for anyone under the age of 16. It is run by Instructor Dominique Olfsen, qualified in rank as a level one instructor by Idan Abolnik. This class is open to men and women. However, there’s no change to the teaching style in regards to age, gender or build. The standards set by Idan Abolnik have to be maintained. These classes are not for everyone. They’re tough and will push you to your limits, but will prepare you for almost anything.

Krav Maga

Krav Maga is the practice of close combat fighting. A simple yet very effective form of self defence, it’s suitable for attendees from all walks of life. These classes include weapon disarms, defence against holds, chokes, grabs, rape defence, and ground work. Here, you’ll learn multitude of strikes and kicks, amongst other incredible techniques and principles that you can use to defend yourself in reality.

Krav Maga has taken the best from various forms of martial arts, such as BJJ and Muay Thai, and combined it into a fierce and deadly form of self defence.

This course is a two-day self-empowerment course, offering ladies over the age of 14 an introduction to rape defence. Sexual assault is unfortunately an ugly reality in South Africa, therefore, learning self defence is essential and important in order to protect yourself.

Their approach to rape defence is underpinned by effective Kalah Combat techniques and principles. The primary focus of the course is to teach you how to avoid finding yourself in the situation in the first place. But if the event should arise where you’re faced with it, you’ll be able to defend yourself to get out of the situation. These techniques will cover rape defence with weapons and without weapons.
