Yeesh! – Review

Document

I am quite enjoying my research project that I set myself earlier this year – to find the very best child-friendly places in Joburg. And I seem to be finding quite a few. What is quite apparent is that many venues are employing child psychologists to assist with the overall design and development of the play areas, something that really appeals to me. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for giving children a cardboard box, blanket and tin plate and sending them out to the garden to play. But I like the idea of creating play areas that not only allow children to blow off some steam, but also facilitate their growth and development.

That being said, I also want a place that is nice for ME to visit. Because it’s all about me actually. Please do not expect me to sit for hours and pay stupid amounts of money for my child to be entertained and then give me a very bad cup of tea and soggy muffin to pass the time. As a mother, I want to be spoilt. Just because it’s a child-friendly venue, does not mean that it has to repel adults.

I was therefore DELIGHTED to find Yeesh – a venue catering for children up to 12 years of age! I have been to the Woodmead branch, and am dying to try the new venue that has just opened near the Sandton Clinic in Bryanston. Kayla loves Yeesh – so much so that we have a mini meltdown when it’s time to go home. Her favourite activity is the giant structure where she can climb and jump and bounce and swing to her hearts content, without all the sharp edges you find on normal outdoor structures. I like the fact that Yeesh has catered for older children, but that they also have a separate area for those under the age of 4 that need a slightly more sedate experience.

I quite like the Paint Pot – an area where your child can get crafty! You simply pay for the item your child wants to paint, and then enjoy the fact that there is no additional charge for painting. It’s a lovely idea for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and other gifts – there is nothing like having your child make something to give away as a gift. It’s less expensive and teaches them the value of putting thought into what they are giving to others.

The coffee shop is really nice – high quality coffee, and a range of teas to choose from. They also serve freshly baked cakes, muffins, and scones and also have snack meals – toasted sandwiches, quiches, and hot dogs for those needing something more substantial. It’s also so nice relaxing in the coffee shop knowing that your kids are being entertained and supervised by trained staff. It’s a stunning time out for both adults and children.

Yeesh is also a great party venue as they have the capacity to handle the entire party – even the invitations. Various party options are available – have a look at their website – www.yeesh.co.za – for all the details.
