Woolworths’ newest eco-chic outlet that opened in late April, offers a glimpse into Woolies’ stylish approach to sustainability and its innovative re-definition of the store.
Food That Cares
In addition to a new look – the Woolies food store comes complete with a chocolate hub, fish market and butchery, and an in-house roastery within WCafe – the Woolworths Mall of Africa store is deliberately moving towards creating a more “deli-type shopping environment”. In keeping with the pillars of Woolworths’ Good Business Journey, the store has been designed to lessen the environmental impact of the “super-regional mall” through sustainability measures that include using waste heat from the refrigeration units to heat the store, as well as an array of energy-efficient lighting equipment and water-saving measures.
Fashion That Cares
Shoppers can now browse through dedicated (and bigger) footwear and fashion departments, offering ranges from Studio.W, RE:, David Jones Collection and JT One, as well as Australian premium brands Country Road, Trenery, MIMCO and Witchery – all of which have standalone stores in-house. FoxBox express manicures and EyeCandy eyebrow threading offers a convenient stop within the glittering new beauty department, which overlooks a large dramatic atrium.
