We Are EGG takes Johannesburg by storm! Shop from over 180 curated brands at this new concept store that has recently opened their doors to Joburg shoppers. The omnichannel shopping experience can be found at Rosebank Mall.
The Story Behind the Name
We are Egg, has been named for its incubation of a collaboration spirit and for providing a home where creatives are noticed and supported. The brains behind the futuristic store is none other than Arie Fabian of Fabiani Menswear and Paul Simon who first wowed South Africans with his concept store, YDE (Young Designers Emporium). The idea thus naturally stemmed from Simon’s original concept of popular formal wear store YDE.
The manifesto for the brand, found on their website reads, “We Are EGG is a community where ideas, dreams, innovations and aspirations are envisioned, and born. A place for creators, makers, artisans and culture-shapers -To Co-Lab, To Co-Evolve, To Co-Create the future.” The store is also focused on inclusivity and have thus made it easier for newer brands to find a launch pad into the retail space- something that can be daunting for new shop owners.
An EGGcellent Shopping Experience
Walking endlessly from store to store to find an outfit is a thing of the past! Shoppers can find award winning fashion, beauty, home jewellery and food all under one roof! This is the second store of its kind, with their first physical store having launched at Cavendish Square in Cape Town.
So, what brands can you find in-store? Cultish, Me & B, The Lot, Yawa, Palm Angels and Heron Preston are just a handful of names that you will find when visiting the store.
For the fitness and health enthusiasts you can shop from; New Balance, Puma Select, On The Move and Hunter to name a few. While sneakerheads will enjoy browsing through the Converse, Limited Run and Puma Select stores. Local designer, Rich Mnisi, is also among the premium brands that shoppers can look out for. This is the first time Mnisi has launched a line with retailer, We Are EGG.
Unique Store Offerings
It’s not just clothes, shoes and accessories at this store! The 3000 square metre space is home to luxe piercing boutique Piercery, a piercing studio and jewellery store. Their line of jewellery includes materials such as Titanium, Surgical Steel and solid Gold items. The store also performs limited body piercings as well as ear and face piercings.
Feeling a little thirsty? All the walking around the store might leave you parched, so head over to Mama Samba who currently serve smoothies and cold drinks!
If you’re looking to add a touch of green to your living space head over to their conservatory style greenhouse, Anea Terrariums. The various terrariums (an indoor gardening container) are absolutely breathtaking and it’s something that you need to experience for yourself!
