Top 10 Sweet Treat Spots In Joburg

Joburg Admin / August 19, 2015

Sweets De Molen Restaurant This restaurant and bakery in Edenvale sticks out like a sore thumb amongst the rest of the buildings in the area! The little shop, complete with a small replica of the Zeldenrust Molen Mill in Holland, offers a huge selection of sweet treats for you to enjoy at the De Molen Restaurant, and at De Bakery to take home. Make sure you check out the great treats they have in store  I loved their Danish pastries! For more information, visit their website. Fournos One of the main reasons I visit Fournos is for those delicious and decadent cakes they have on display ... you know, the ones you see as soon as you walk in? They always have a variety of sweet treats on display and it is always my mission to try a different one every time I visit. Their BarOne cake (when available) is always a winner ... a definite must-have if you want to overindulge in chocolate! For more information, visit their website. Belle’s Patisserie Looking for a sweet treat on the run or need something for your afternoon tea with the girls? Then head down to Belle’s Patisserie for all things sweet! They have the best red velvet cupcakes in town and have a fab selection of cakes to choose from ... but, my personal favourite would have to be the brownie cupcakes  they’re the perfect tempting treat to snack on whilst running your daily errands. For more information, visit their website. Voodoo Lily Café My boyfriend, his family and I went out to this cosy little spot and all I can say is that I would definitely go back! Their menu is always changing and there is something delicious for everyone to enjoy. I am not a huge fan of baked cheesecake, but the cheesecake at Voodoo Lily is just to die for! It’s a definite-must have when it's available, and the serving is big enough to share (but you totally don't have to!). For more information, visit their website. Sweet-Treats-631x355 Wolves Café I always hear friends ranting and raving about Wolves Cafe’s signature Hummingbird Cake, so I headed down to this little spot in Illovo to see what all the fuss was about. A pecan, pineapple, banana, nut and cinnamon cake with a rich cream cheese frosting that just left me craving more, that's what! It was definitely worth the allergic reaction (curse you, nut allergy!). For more information, visit their website. Café Bruegel If it's waffles you want, it’s waffles you get at Cafe Bruegel in Edenvale. They have every topping imaginable, from savoury to sweet. I can never miss out on my all time favourite, which is a banana and caramel waffle topped with a great dollop of vanilla ice cream! The size of the portions will definitely leave you feeling full! For more information, visit their website. Walnut Grove This is my favourite spot in Sandton City after a tiring shopping spree. The cakes on display always look magnificent and decadent, but my favourite treat from this spot definitely has to be the Rocky Road Brownie Bar – a delicious crunchy chocolate bar filled with nuts and marshmallows served with cream (or ice cream – I prefer the cream option). Luckily I keep antihistamines at the ready! For more information, visit their website. Kelly Jayne’s This spot in Krugersdorp is perfect for coffee with friends and, best of all, you can bring the kids along and they will have a blast in the kiddies play area. You can indulge in a great selection of teas and freshly-baked confectionary while catching up on the latest gossip. They also offer monthly cake and cupcake decorating courses! For more information, visit their website. Sweet-Treats Vovo Telo Vovo Telo offers you a great selection of freshly-baked breads and delectables. Their decadent and scrumptious chocolate croissants go perfectly with their amazing coffee, and it’s the perfect spot to just sit back and relax ... plus, their cake slices are huge! Definitely perfect for sharing! For more information, visit their website. Doppio Zero I can happily say I have tried every single dessert on Doppio Zero Greenside’s menu! After a few allergic reactions and rolling on out the door from over indulging on more than one occasion, I have finally done it! I absolutely love the date malva pudding and the extremely rich triple chocolate brownie! There is also a selection of decadent cakes on display for you to suss out! For more information, visit their website. If we haven't included your favorite spot in our list, please share below!
