The People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice

Joburg Admin / November 17, 2025

From Thursday, November 20th - Saturday, November 22nd at the historic Constitution Hill, We The 99’s People’s Summit for Global Economic Justice will see voices from across the globe rise together for justice, equality and change. Get your tickets here and make your voice heard!

Making History

Days before the G20 Leaders’ Summit, hosted in South Africa for the first time, the gathering will challenge and reframe dominant narratives about the global economy. While G20 leaders meet behind closed doors to decide the fate of billions, We The 99 will open the space for people, movements, and communities. Economic decisions must serve humanity, not markets.

The carefully structured three-day event will focus on interrogating global inequality and advancing people-centred alternatives through movement-building, civil society dialogue and music.

We The 99 believes that structuring the event as a counterpoint to the G20 offers a critical moment for global power-shifting. It's a chance to reimagine an international economic order centred on fairness, solidarity, and shared prosperity.

The Summit will amplify calls for debt justice, equitable climate finance, fair taxation, and economic democracy issues. These are often absent from the elite decision-making tables. It's a dynamic environment that bridges policy advocacy, activism, and cultural expression.

Politically conscious artists will deliver an impactful event that is intellectually urgent and emotionally resonant. We The 99 will be a space for celebration, while rallying for sustained, global action. The call? To reshape the future economy in the service of people and planet.

Raising Voices

A talented top-tier line-up of powerful artists and creatives will usher in versatile entertainment on all event days. Much-loved names such as ‘iPhupho L’ka Biko’, ‘Lebo Mashile’, ‘Maglera Doe Boy’, ‘DBN Gogo’, ‘DJ Kenzhero’ and ‘The Brother Moves On’ are part of the festivities.

“Inequality can’t just be debated in conference halls. It’s challenged in the streets and sung on our stages. We’re calling out a global economy built by and for the 1%. It’s a declaration that the future belongs to us. Young people, artists, and workers are turning protest into power. This is what global solidarity sounds like." - Kearabetswe Moopelo, Programme Officer.
