The HalaalGoods Market Heads To Waterfall Park

Joburg Admin / July 1, 2025

With an average of 100 vendors showcasing, it is no surprise that the highly acclaimed HalaalGoods Market has made its mark as an event not to be missed. The next edition will be taking place at a beautiful, secure outdoor venue, Waterfall Park at Mall of Africa, in Waterfall City, Midrand from the 26 – 27 July 2025.

Indulge At The HalaalGoods Market

The HalaalGoodsMarket (HGM) is no stranger to the ever-evolving climate of business and has successfully managed to secure its place as one of the pioneers in its field. Having maintained this reputation as the ‘first of its’ kind, the market has continued to impress patrons with its visible growth. It's a unique take on market culture and has attracted visitors from all over South Africa across ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.

An Abundance Of Flavours

The market stallholders have taken the flavours of the world and added the halaal touch. From Korean to Japanese and a twist on traditional favourites, there’s something for every palate.

You will find samosas, kimbap, pizzas, karak chai, brisket burgers, an entire smorgasbord of food as well as clothing, jewellery, kids activities and so much more.

While the concept of halaal (lawful) is usually associated with food, Jordaan explains that it actually applies to all aspects of a Muslim’s life. Including dress, grooming, and finances.

HGM incorporates the wider notion of halaal, so you’ll find a lot more than just food here, that said as a South African market we have products sold by small businesses of all religious persuasions” says Jordaan.

Although the market and its products comply with Islamic law, HGM is open to avid foodies from all walks of life. And Those who simply want to explore the different tastes and flavours that South Africa’s cultural melting pot has to offer.

The market is family-centred with large seating areas, kids craft activities and a play area.

Inspired by local artisan markets and the street-food scene, HGM was established eight years ago by Fehmida Jordaan.

More than anything else, we want to support and promote unique, local entrepreneurs who are building businesses from conceptualisation to reality on their own. These businesses are the heartbeat of our economy and they employ people,” explains Jordaan.

Jordaan hopes that she has done her part in promoting the variety of halaal food in South Africa as well as being instrumental in supporting small, locally owned businesses.

I want the market to be known as the place to come and hang out, eat, socialise and most of all, to support small businesses.
