The BAL Playoffs & Finals To Be Held In SA For the First Time!

The 2025 BAL season tipped off on April 5 at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex in Rabat, Morocco. And will culminate with the first-ever BAL Finals on Saturday, 14 June 2025, at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria. This is the first time the Finals will be played in South Africa after last year’s inaugural Kalahari Conference games.

The 2025 BAL Season Is Here!

The top 12 club teams from 12 African countries are playing 48 games in four cities: Rabat, Dakar, Kigali and Pretoria. This season features a record six first-time BAL participants. Including the first teams from Cape Verde (Kriol Star Basketball) and Kenya (Nairobi City Thunder), which shows the degree to with the BAL is inspiring more teams and countries to invest in their local basketball ecosystems and strive to be part of this historic league. Defending champion Petro de Luanda (Angola) and 2022 champion US Monastir (Tunisia) are the only teams to have qualified for all five BAL seasons.

156 players from a record 28 countries across five continents are competing this season.

The BAL Season Teams

The 12 teams have been divided into three conferences of four teams each. Each conference will play a 12-game group phase during which each team will face the other three teams in its conference twice. The Kalahari Conference group phase was held in Rabat, Morocco from April 5 – April 13. The Sahara Conference group phase from April 26 – May 4 at the Dakar Arena in Senegal. The Nile Conference group phase, May 17 – May 25 at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

Eight teams from across the three conferences will qualify for the Playoffs in Pretoria. The Playoffs will tip off on Friday, 06 June 2025 and culminate with the Finals on Saturday, 14 June 2025.

The 2025 BAL season is reaching fans in 214 countries and territories in 17 languages through free-to-air and paid TV broadcast partnerships with the African Union of Broadcasting, American Forces Network (AFN), Canal+, ESPN, FIBA’s digital platform Courtside 1891, NBA TV, Ninety Media Services, SNRT, Tencent Sports, TV5 Monde and livestreaming on the NBA App, NBA.com, BAL.NBA.com and the BAL’s YouTube channel.

Tickets are available in each country and at BAL.NBA.com. Fans who purchase tickets also have free access to the BAL Fan Zone at the arena.
