Sibani Lodge: Glamping And Hot Tubs 45 Minutes From Joburg

Document

Looking for a slice of paradise just 45 minutes from the city? Then visit Sibani Lodge in the Cradle of Humankind, which offers glamorous tented camps, wood-fired hot tubs, game drives and gourmet food.

If you’re anything like us, you’re always looking for unique weekend getaways close to Johannesburg. Far enough so you feel like you’re out of the city, but close enough to make it worth going for just the weekend.

Sibani Lodge is an absolute hidden gem in this regard. Situated on the vast Mt Savannah reserve in the Cradle of Humankind, Sibani offers a luxury lodge experience as well as tented camps.

But these aren’t just any tented camps, they’re beautifully set up, fully equipped structures with their own bathroom, lounge, king sized bed and private, wood-fired hot tub.

Gaze out over the rolling Mt Savannah grassland as you sip on champagne and soak in your own outdoor hot tub. You’ll more than likely spot a giraffe, red hartebeest, kudu, impala or zebra grazing in the hills.

The Luxury Tents have solar electrical supply, which allows for some lighting as well as charging of cell phones and laptops inside. No other electrical devices are supported in the Luxury Tents. This is a place to unplug and unwind – so leave all those gadgets at home!

Offerings

Guests at the camp can opt in for a three-course dinner and breakfast the next day made by Sibani’s on-site chef.

While there, we enjoyed a velvety, rosemary-infused butternut soup starter followed by a beef potjie that had been cooking on the fire for eight hours. Yum! Desert was a decadent chocolate brownie.

Guests are allowed to bring their own alcohol, so feel free to pack a cooler with some wine and drinks. After dinner, feel free to sit out in the boma, under the stars, in front of a roaring fire.

Game drives occur at set times daily, and Sibani’s experienced guides will take you on an relaxing tour of the reserve. You’ll get to see Kira the giraffe as well as Mt Savannah’s very own cave.
