Rod Stewart Live

Joburg Admin / October 31, 2008

The much anticipated tour is presented by 567 CapeTalk, East Coast Radio, Talk Radio 702 and M-Net; and will kick-off at Sahara Park Newlands Stadium in Cape Town on Monday, 1st of December, 2008 followed by a performance on Thursday, 4th of December, 2008 at the ABSA Stadium in Durban with the final show at the Coca- Cola Dome, Johannesburg on Saturday, 6th of December, 2008 and Sunday, 7th of December, 2008. Rod Stewart has one of the most recognisable voices of our time. In his 40 years in the entertainment industry he has produced a string of memorable hits that left everyone bobbing along trying to match his raspy voice and magic moves. The 66 year-old music legend had been knocking around the London club scene with groups like Steampacket and Long John Baldry’s Band before he connected with ace guitarist, Jeff Beck, in 1968. It was when Stewart joined forces with the greatest party band in rock history, the magnificent Faces, that he truly came into his own. Throughout the ‘80s and ‘90s, Rod Stewart remained a consistent presence on the charts, with smashes like “Young Turks”, “Forever Young”, “Downtown Train” and the massive “All for Love” trio alongside Sting and Bryan Adams. His Unplugged…and Seated set reunited him with Faces mate, Ron Wood, and resulted in a big hit with his intimate version of Van Morrison’s “Have I Told You Lately”. As the century turned, Stewart underwent throat surgery to remove a benign cancerous node, and also tackled some of his most ambitious material—from contemporary Brit-pop on When We Were the New Boys to new-school R&B on Human. Rod Stewart has always been a remarkable interpretive singer; he’s recorded songs by the finest contemporary songwriters, from Bob Dylan to Curtis Mayfield, John Lennon and Paul McCartney to Cat Stevens. Now he’s on his way to South Africa to blow away his legions of fans with hits like “Maggie May”, “Every Picture Tells a Story”, “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy?”, “Hot Legs”, “First Cut Is The Deepest” and many more that will no doubt make him many new fans along the way.
