Hartbeespoort is one of our favourite family-friendly destinations. We recently discovered the Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park – the ideal family fun venue. There are a variety of animal species at the park, including lions, tigers and other big cats. This is not your typical zoo either. Animal Attractions

The Hartbeespoort Dam Snake and Animal Park is home to an eclectic collection of critters. Big and small, they’re all valued here. Come and see the park’s main attractions – wild cats and some of the rarest reptiles in Africa. There are also a wide variety of bird species housed at the park, including the South African Blue Crane. The park hosts a must-see seal and snake show during the school holidays and on select weekends, too. This show is not to be missed, so make sure to bring the whole family along. Educational Programmes

The park offers educational programmes for schools and private parties. It is a firm favourite with the little ones, as the tours are both educational and entertaining. For many children this will be there first contact with wild animals. The park tour guides will provide interesting facts about each animal to broaden their knowledge and to promote conservation efforts. Teachers or parents can also book a ferry ride to welcome the children to the park. It’s a non-stop adventure from start to finish, and certainly one that the kids won’t soon forget. The Harties Water Sport Centre is situated at the Snake and Animal Park. They offer an array of water sport activities, including tubing and parasailing.
