If the impact of the last couple of years has increased the longing to unwind, reenergise and connect with yourself and others, The Nest Space is the perfect place to do just that! The wellness studio delivers a modern, approachable take on the ancient art of holistic yoga and meditation to help you master
not just your lotus pose, but your life in general.

Offering an affordable, wide range of holistic health services and driven by values of accessibility and sustainability, the 100% black and female run space is a one-stop shop for all things zen. The Nest hosts yoga and meditation classes (small and intimate enough to receive one on one attention from a certified instructor), a zero-waste grocer and a vegan café.

Come one, come all

The vibrant studio has been a revolutionising force in changing antiquated stereotypes in Joburg’s wellness industry, empowering people from all backgrounds with access to attain holistic healthcare.

It’s headed up by dynamic duo: Anesu Mbvizo, a trained medical doctor who hung up her stethoscope to focus her energy on a holistic approach to healing, and Banesa Tseki, a well-established creative entrepreneur. The studio is spearheading the movement to make the wellness industry a more inclusive space and is explicit in welcoming all people regardless of race, cultural background, gender, sexual orientation, body type, physical ability or age.

Change

Like many other small businesses, impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic, The Nest has had to adjust operationally. But, adopting a true yogi attitude Anesu and Banesa have chosen to see this as an opportunity to move out of their comfort zones and adapt their ethos of ‘surrender and innovate’.

The team pivoted many of their offerings to digital platforms, shifting yoga classes online and creating a subscription meal delivery service allowing members to try recipes from their vegan café at home.

And now with physical life returning to almost normal, The Nest will be opening the doors of a beautiful, soon to be revealed location, not too far from its initial home in Greenside where it had a successful three-year run. The new home maintains the aesthetic glow of the initial space with an open, airy feel decorated with quintessential African art, enhancing the feeling of relaxation and home.

Not just Yoga

In addition to multiple styles of yoga and meditation classes and delicious vegan food, you can also take advantage of the donation-based online Full Moon and New Moon. The events are platform for people to gather in communion, heal and manifest.

With the demands of life, it’s important to fill your proverbial cup and prioritise self-care in order to sustain yourself and pour into the things and people you love – and have fun doing it!
