Orphanages: Johannesburg Children's Home

Johannesburg Children's Home is a non-profit organisation (NPO) catering to kids between the ages of 3 and 18. They are survivors of physical, sexual and emotional abuse, some are Aids orphans while others are HIV positive. Due to the neglect and abuse that these children have experienced, they have an educational gap, which the NPO addresses with special needs education. They also offer therapy.

Malaika Orphanage Center

Situated in Hillbrow, Malaika Orphanage Center supports children affected by poverty, abandonment and neglect, as well as those with Aids and HIV. Malaika supplies basic needs such as food, school support, clothes and care for children without homes, as well as underprivileged families. There is also a daycare facility for children not yet in school and afternoon activities.

Orphanages: Impilo

Tragically, thousands of children are abandoned every year in South Africa. Impilo provides children's protection and adoption services and you can help them to help these children by donating, volunteering or adopting a child.

Mother Of Peace

Mother of Peace is a non-profit organisation that works to restore family values – based on Catholic beliefs – to orphaned and vulnerable children. Putting the children's needs first, this organisation ensures that children are heard, have a sense of belonging, are loved and grow up in a happy family environment. Living in a house of six children and a house mother, children are offered emotional support and attention.

Orphanages: Baby Haven

Baby Haven caters to abandoned and orphaned babies in Johannesburg, many of whom are healthy children of HIV-positive parents. Baby Haven provides them with a home and a loving environment. Since 2003, they have been a place of safety for hundreds of children, and most of them have been adopted. Baby Haven serves as the link between the babies and their adoptive 'forever families'.
