Lekker In Linden: Food Edition

Document

Linden is known for being a trendy suburb full of unique eateries and interesting shops to browse. We took a walk through this charming neighbourhood earlier in the week, and are proud to present some of our favourite spots to eat. While some have been around for years, others opened just last week!

Carbon Cafe

Carbon Cafe opened its doors just the other day on 25 October 2025, and it’s already a neighbourhood favourite! The fully halaal cafe has fast (and free!) wifi, fabulous coffee, and a delicious array of sweet and savoury menu items to enjoy.

It’s a beautiful, contemporary space that makes you feel right at home, with staff who go out of their way to make sure you’re comfortable. We hope these guys stick around for a long time!

Kafeneio

A kafeneio [pronounced ‘ka-feh-nee-o’] is the Greek word for a cafe, the cornerstone of human connection in the Mediterranean. This Linden treasure encapsulates that, and truly does feel like a tiny pocket of Greek island living in the middle of Linden.

You’ll find some of Greece’s most delicious traditional plates here, plus a divine selection of signature desserts. They’re famous for their baklava cheesecake, so if you haven’t tried it, now’s the time!

The Whippet

The Whippet was recently ranked among the top 100 best cafes in the world, and we can see why. Not only is the space absolutely beautiful, but a peek at the menu will have your mouth watering.

The all-day brunch features delectable options from noodle bowls to charcuterie boards and croissant-waffle hybrids. The drinks menu is just as inviting. Good luck choosing between churro hot chocolate and a cherry blossom mimosa!

The Argentinean

Don’t let The Argentinean’s minimal social media presence fool you! This bakery is as popular as ever and ready to serve you some of the most delicious baked goods you’ll ever have.

Maps, art, and trinkets from Argentina line the walls, so there’s plenty to marvel at while waiting for the delicious treats of your choosing. Word on the street is that their almond croissants are some of the best in Joburg, and after trying one, we definitely agree.

I Love Tea & Sushi

This tiny spot exemplifies what it means to be a ‘hole in the wall.’ It’s far too easy to miss! Needless to say, we’re very glad we stopped by.

You’ll find a variety of yummy East Asian dishes here, alongside bubble tea flavours you didn’t know existed. Plus, you can enjoy chatting with the owners at the sushi belt while you watch your lunch come together!
