Johannesburg Pride 2019: Everything You Need To Know

Joburg Admin / October 4, 2019

Johannesburg Pride is the longest running pride event on the continent. It is also one of the biggest pride parades in South Africa, seeing thousands of visitors each year. Over the last three decades, Johannesburg Pride has advocated for inclusion of all African LGBTQ+ identities. That's why this year, Johannesburg Pride is all about celebrating The Pride of Africa. Debuting a new flag, which is inspired by the flags of all 54 countries in Africa, Pride makes a bold new statement: there are no borders here - Pride is proudly African, and authentically you.

Pride Marches From Sandton

In anticipation of welcoming in even more proud paraders than ever before, Pride sought out a new home. That's where Sandton City comes into the picture. Offering secure parking, Sandton City will be the departure point for the march. The march departs at 14:00 en-route through the Sandton CBD. Additionally, Pride Village will be set up just outside the mall. Here, you can pick up a variety of refreshments to keep you marching proudly through the streets. Johannesburg Pride All are welcome to attend Johannesburg Pride. The march is free of charge, so you can spend that extra cash on putting together your most 'authentically you' outfit ensemble. Each year, thousands gather to march through the streets of Johannesburg in a stand for self-acceptance and legal rights. So, come and join in on the revelry this October, because if you don't celebrate your pride, no one else will.
