Our quest for Joburg’s most delicious eats continues—because someone has to do the hard work, right? We recently asked our Joburg-based followers to share their top pizza spots in the city, and they definitely understood the assignment. Without further ado, here are the city’s best spots to satisfy your inner carb-lover, as voted by you!
John Dough
John Dough's Sourdough Pizzeria is a Linden favourite, and they recently opened a second location in Illovo! It's impossible to overstate how good this pizza is, and there are flavour combinations here that blew our minds. Plus, the bases are made with sourdough, so it's basically a health food.
Cafe 28
Located in Inanda Greens Office Park in Sandton, Cafe 28 came up again and again when we asked where to find Joburg’s best pizza. Honestly, we get it: the cafe is surrounded by green gardens, overlooks a peaceful 9-hole golf course, and serves up pizza we'd go back for on the daily.
NY Slice
NY Slice in Parkhurst has been the talk of the town since they opened their first Joburg location this year, and we totally understand why! If you don't have room for a whole pizza (imagine.), you can order it by the slice here. It's a tasty, contemporary, New York-inspired experience you don't want to miss out on.
SINN
We can confirm that the pizza at SINN is absolutely out of this world. There's something about the dough that makes every bite feel like a spiritual experience, and the toppings are every bit as decadent as the restaurant's aesthetic would lead you to expect. One pizza won't be enough here.
Smack Pizza Co.
Smack Pizza Co. has a bunch of locations across Joburg, all with one thing in common: they don't mess around when it comes to pizza. There are no half measures here. The pizzas are massive, the cheese pull goes on forever, and every mouthful has you seeing stars. Plus, they run an insane food challenge for the true pizza lovers among us. Check it out!
Pizza e Vino
Nobody we asked could agree on which the best branch is, because every Pizza e Vino location is that good. Don't be fooled by the name, either; the pizza and wine are both incredible, but they mix a divine margarita, too. The pizza connosieurs in Joburg love this place, and so do we.
Delta Cafe & Don Quixote
The comments on our Instagram insisted this is "10000000% the place to be for amazing pizza," so go ahead and add Delta Cafe & Don Quixote to your foodie list. There's a fabulous playground for your little ones on site, so you can enjoy your cheesy feast with a well-deserved glass of wine while they have fun!
Coalition Pizza
Coalition Pizza in Blairgowrie offers diners an original, authentic Neapolitan experience that Joburgers are raving about. Their crisp, moreish pizzas hit all the right spots, and the vibe at the venue is everything you'd want for a trendy weekend lunch date. You've got good taste, Joburg!
SetteBello
SetteBello is a well-loved family favourite at the Italian Club in Bedfordview. Your “quick bite” turns into a three-hour feast here, where somehow everyone ends up ordering pizza alongside their other mains. Joburg waxed lyrical about the authentic flavours, cosy vibe, and beautifully dangerous combo of cheesy carbs no one can say no to.
