Luckily for students, there's plenty of fun-filled activities and adventures within Joburg that don't cost a pretty penny. There's loads of student admission fees and discounts that can be found at various entertainment destinations throughout Joburg. Here's a few to check out.

Total Ninja
Head to Total Ninja and enjoy a fun-filled experience, where you will climb, balance, jump and swing across different obstacles using and developing your inner Ninja skills! And if you're a student, you'll save a few bucks with their Student Ninja Discount. Train for one hour for just R128* per person or tackle two hours for R192* per person with their 20% student discount special.
The discount is available to students every Tuesday and Thursday (excluding school and public holidays). To redeem this special, you'll need a valid University or College ID which will be required upon check-in. This discount can’t be used in conjunction with any other offer.
City Sightseeing Johannesburg
Explore Joburg and all of its extraordinary and exciting destinations with City Sightseeing Johannesburg! They offer a Student Discount on all operational days during the week. To get this discount, you'll need a valid photo ID student card to qualify for a special discounted cost on the one-day ticket (valid on the Red Tour line). Instead of paying the usual R325 per person, you'll pay R245* per person as a student if you qualify. This discount is available online only. When you arrive to enjoy your tour, you will need to show your South African photo ID Student card along to qualify when redeeming your voucher/ticket at Stop 1 @ The Zone. One student card per ticket redeemed. Keep in mind Ts&Cs apply and the Student Special doesn't apply to the Bus and Soweto Combo tour.
The Johannesburg Zoo
Have some free time during the week? Then why not grab your mates and make your way to the Johannesburg Zoo for a fun-filled day out? They have a special student ticket that you can purchase on weekdays only (also only issues with a valid student card).
Along with your student card, you'll gain access to the zoo at R74* per person as a student. the normal cost of a ticket is R120 per person. That's a R52 saving! Find out more bout the Joburg Zoo here.
BOUNCE Inc
For a little bit of fun and fitness are combined into one activity, BOUNCE Inc is just the place to be. Also, they have discounts available to enjoy that you have a great time bouncing and having fun without busting your budget.
These student discounts are available online only. Enjoy a jumper session for one hour at R90* per student off peak (Monday to Friday during the school term) and R135* per student on peak (Monday to Thursday between 16:00 and 19:00 during school holidays). Or book a Clip 'n Climb session for the same cost and times. When you arrive and check-in, have your valid student card on hand.
Constitution Hill
When exploring Joburg, an absolute must-visit if you're interested in experiencing and and gaining insight into the history of South Africa, is Constitution Hill. Located in the heart of Johannesburg, this living museum that tells the story of our transition from colonialism and apartheid to democracy.
You can get your tickets at the venue or you can purchase your tickets online and get an additional 5% discount on your ticket via webtickets. Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden
Spend time in nature, absorbing some sunshine and enjoy the fresh air at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Garden. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore hiking trails, see about 240 bird species, including the breeding pair of Verreaux’s Eagles nesting on the waterfall cliff. There's also over 600 naturally occurring plant species on the premises.

Apartheid Museum
The Apartheid Museum offers visitors the opportunity to see the rise and fall of apartheid. The historic museum exhibits provocative film footage, photos, text panels and artefacts showcasing the events and stories that are part of this horrific period in our history. This is a moving walk through South Africa's history, struggles and triumphs.
When visiting the museum, ensure you have your valid student card with you in order to redeem the student entry rate which is R100* per person. The usual general entry cost is R150 per person. So, you'll save R50 bucks. Noice.
The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre
Situated in the heart of the Joburg CBD, you'll find this hidden gem! The Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is an edutainment destination that's sure to delight all ages. This science centre-museum boasts nearly 400 permanent exhibits that are interactive, thus allowing visitors explore, touch, feel, press and play to their hearts content.
The general admission fee is R60 per person. But with your student card, you get a R20 discount and can explore this centre at R40* per person. As always, ensure you have your student card with you! Click here for more info.
Hennops Hiking Trails
Have a love for hiking? Then visit the Hennops Hiking Trails, literally a stone's throw from both Johannesburg and Pretoria. There are three hiking trails to choose from, depending on your fitness and hiking experience and level. There are unique features you can find while hiking these trails, including two suspension bridges, a cable car, interesting historical sites, and old dolomite mines and the ovens.
For day visitors, no booking required. However, there is an entry fee. And there is a student discount! Show them your college or university card and you'll only pay R60* per person General cost is R100 per person. So, you'll save R40!
