It’s the most magical time of year! Fairy lights will be making an appearance once again at the wildly popular Festival of Lights at Joburg Zoo. The festival takes place between 25 November and 1 January 2023.
Joburg Theatre in association with the City of Johannesburg entities; Joburg City Parks and Zoo and City Power are excited to bring the annual Joburg Festival of Lights back to the city. Each year the festival features enchanting collections of illuminated life-size animal characters. Additionally, there is classical and harmonious entertainment, a food and craft night market and rides for visitors to the Zoo.
This Summer, the Zoo will be open from 19:00 until 22:00 pm daily except on Mondays. Attendees can enjoy a tranquil walk in the Zoo on a designated lit route away from the animals, under trees decorated in enchanting lights. It’s a totally different experience at night and kids and adults alike can observe the nocturnal animals being more active.
Tickets to the shimmering event cost R165 per person while pensioners pay R90. Kids between 3 and 12 years pay R85 and children under 3 years of age enter for free.
