Celebrate a decade of live entertainment at Soweto Theatre

Joburg Admin / April 26, 2022

Soweto Theatre is one third of the Joburg City Theatres amalgamation. Situated in vibrant Jabulani Cultural Precinct, this stunning theatre complex has been at the heart of live entertainment in Soweto for the past decade. The history of theatre and live performance in the area extends far further back , however. The Jabulani Amphitheatre has played host to a number of musicians and theatre groups since 1952. As one of the only leisure facilities in Soweto during the apartheid years, this site has an incredible significance. Fast forward 60 years, and the stately Soweto Theatre was completed as part of the legacy of the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Now, 10 years on, the theatre is alive and well despite the many challenges of maintaining a live entertainment space during the global pandemic. Pay a visit to the theatre as soon as you can to commemorate this massive achievement. They've got an awesome lineup of live music events and comedy specials in store for you this May:
