CATS, one of the biggest hits in theatrical history, returns to Joburg stages in 2026. Having opened at Artscape in Cape Town in December 2025, they'll be taking to Montecasino’s Teatro in Johannesburg from 17 January. CATS features a local cast performing Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic score, including the unforgettable ballad “Memory". Hearing this one live truly is something else. Based on Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats by T.S. Eliot, CATS first premiered in London’s West End in 1981. 9,000 performances, 54 countries, 23 languages, and 77 million audience members later, this show has broken records and redefined musical theatre.
