Grocery Shopping From Home During Lockdown

One of the best ways to curb the spread of the coronavirus is by distancing yourself from others, avoiding crowded public spaces and practicing good hygiene. During this pivotal time, we encourage our readers to steer clear of large shopping centres if possible. However, this does not mean that you need to panic buy all your essentials in bulk. Rather turn to online shopping for groceries, cleaning products and other goodies during lockdown. Here are some of the best online shopping sites to rely on.

grocery shopping

Woolworths

Woolworths online is available to all shoppers with a valid Store Card, Woolworths credit card or MySchool, MyVillage, MyPlanet card. You can either shop on their website or download the Woolies app to get your grocery shopping done. Woolworths online allows you to create shopping lists based on your favourite items and most frequently purchased essentials. Simply create a profile and get started buying groceries, cleaning products, bath and beauty essentials and items for baby or the kids. Your first delivery is free.

In response to the outbreak of the COVID-19 virus in Gauteng, Woolworths have implemented a number of health and safety standards to keep both you and their employees safe. When their drivers arrive at your address, they will alert you of their presence before standing back at a distance of at least one metre. Your package will be delivered in bags, so that you need not handle any delivery containers. The driver will place your bags at your gate or door and wait for you to collect them. They will record the date, time and your name in front of you, so there is no need to sign for your delivery. Once you have headed back indoors, the driver will collect any delivery containers and be on their way!

Pick n Pay

Online shopping is made super simple with Pick n Pay’s mobile site. All you have to do is create a profile using your email address to begin clicking away for your household staples. Depending on your delivery region, there may be various promotions available. Smart Shoppers can also get bonus discounts on everything from fresh produce to pet’s food and much more.

What makes Pick n Pay’s online shopping portal even more convenient is that you can choose a time for your delivery. You can also archive your previous purchases for ease the next time you shop. Pick n Pay provides you with your own personal shopper, too. Guaranteed to pick the very best quality products, just as you would. Leave a personalised note for your shopper in the MY TROLLEY view on the site if you have any dietary restrictions, allergies or preferences regarding the products they choose. Easy as that!

Checkers

Groceries delivered in 60 minutes? Yes please! Checkers recently launched their Sixty60 app, which allows you to shop for all your food and drink essentials at the same low prices as in store. With over 5000 grocery items to choose from, you should never be without the basics. The Checkers Sixty60 app allows you to choose a delivery time and to track your delivery from store to your door. Unfortunately, delivery is limited to the northern Joburg suburbs for now. However, Checkers is working on rolling out this service to new areas in the near future.
