Where To Enjoy Christmas Carols In The City


Other than all the feasting and Christmas shopping, it’s time to get together and listen to a few of our favourite carols to get us all into the festive mood. We already have Silent Night and Away in a Manger ringing in our ears! Here are a few Christmas carol events happening in the city. 

The Xmas Show at Garden World

Date: Sunday, 08 November 2019 from 11:00

Join Garden World for a magical evening of pure entertainment with a Christmas twist. There might not be carols, but this is a Christmas show you don’t want to miss! Stars of radio, stage and screen will be bringing Joburgers a one-night-only, top-class variety concert jam-packed with magic tricks, singing, instrumental pieces, fun and loads of surprises. There will be a bar service available for the adults, non-alcoholic drinks for sale for the kids, food stalls, craft stalls – what more do you need for an evening of a sheer holiday celebration? Christmas Carols Service & Family Picnic

Date: Friday, 29 November 2019 from 17:30 – 19:30

Head to Dainfern College for their annual Christmas Carols and Christmas Market. Make your way to the Multipurpose Hall for the Carols Service starting at 18:00, which will be followed by the Christmas Market in the JP Block. Gather the family and don’t forget to take along a picnic basket filled with holiday treats for this festive evening.

Wonderland of Lights

Date: Sunday, 01 December 2019 – Sunday, 05 January 2020

The Wonderland of Lights and Market promises to outshine any other family holiday activity this festive season, with over 100 lights on display. The display will take place at Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens in Roodepoort, and contains over 13 unique themed stages lighting up the already beautiful botanical conservatory. There will be an 11 foot Gingerbread Man, an army of Nutcracker Soldiers, Santa’s reindeer and a larger than life Christmas Grinch. Make sure you get your tickets now!

The Drakensberg Boys Choir Noel Concert

Date: Wednesday, 13 November 2019 – Wednesday, 04 December 2019

This is a show that’ll definitely delight your ears. Enjoy a selection of Christmas Carols by The Drakensberg Boys Choir, who’ll take centre stage at the Linder Auditorium and perform their Noel Concert for ONE NIGHT ONLY. The Cantare Children’s Choir and Bronberg Children’s Choir will also be performing at this special concert. Tickets cost between R80 – R175 per person and can be bought from Webtickets.

1 Fox Xmas Market

Date: Saturday, 07 December 2019 – Sunday, 08 December 2019 from 19:00

Get into the festive spirit with the 1 Fox Xmas Market in Ferreirasdorp. Celebrate this special time of year with your family and friends in a great venue, offering a line-up of live music, delicious market food to delight your taste buds and refreshing drinks. And because it’s Christmas, entry is free!

Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens Christmas Carols & Market

Date: Friday, 29 November 2019 – Saturday, 30 November 2019

Why not enjoy a day out and about at the Walter Sisulu Botanical Gardens? Not only to do some hiking, exploring and eagle watching, but also for festive gift shopping and to sing a few of your favourite Christmas carols. Throughout the afternoon, there will be a Christmas market and in the evening there will be festive carols by candlelight and live entertainment by The Welsh Male Voice Choir of SA and various artists. Bryanston Organic & Natural Market’s Moonlight Markets

Date: Every Tuesday night from 19 November 2019 to 17 December 2019 from 17:00 – 21:00

Just in time for the festive season, Bryanston Organic & Natural Market will be hosting their stunning Moonlight Markets once again. There will be plenty of entertainment to get the whole family into the festive spirit, including magicians, jugglers, buskers, a Christmas-themed puppet show and carols. Christmas isn’t Christmas without carols! Plus, more than 120 carefully selected vendors will be showcasing original gift ideas, wholesome food and authentic crafts. It’s a magical night under the stars. R20 gets the adults in and children under the age of 12 get in for FREE. Parking is always in demand, rather take an Uber if you can.
