Best Pizza Parlours In Joburg

Document

Yup, we did it. We took it upon ourselves to eat our way through the good, the bad and the… “urgh what’s that?” in Joburg pizza places. Was it worth it? Of course, it was! Here is our curated list of the best pizza joints in Jozi.

Cafe 28

Located within the Inanda Greens Office Park, overlooking a magnificent 9-hole golf course and surrounded by beautifully landscaped gardens. This hidden gem called Café 28 opened its doors to patrons in 2016 and has been serving authentic Italian cuisine to its loyal customers ever since. Known for its unique and quality ingredients, most of which are imported from Italy as well as the fresh organic produce grown in their very own garden has given Café 28 the reputation of serving the BEST pizza in Johannesburg by customers who have flooded social media platforms with praises. The well-orchestrated menu created by the Maestro himself, Andrea Giromini, consists of an impressive range of sharing boards (taglieri), pizzas, pasta and heavenly desserts. The menu caters for a variety of palates including many vegetarian options, as well as a frozen range that can be made in the comfort of your home.

Lucios Pizzeria

The pride and joy of Blackheath, Lucio’s has been an Italian gem hidden somewhere around the halfway mark between Northcliff Corner and Cresta Shopping Centre. Starting in 1987 with just 7 tables, the family-owned restaurant has grown from strength to strength over the years with the support of the surrounding community. Today, Lucios Pizzaria is now a 180 seater restaurant. Lucios is your ‘home-away-from-home’ and an extension to your own kitchen. Almost every special memory experienced at Lucios is woven into the Lucios Pizzeria tapestry. This is by far one of our favourite pizza parlours in Joburg.

Saint

From the creators of Marble in Rosebank comes Saint. Founders, David Higgs and Garry Kyriacou gained the original inspiration for Saint during their visit to New York in early 2016, as part of their planning and research for Marble. For David and Gary, the restaurant they went to in Manhattan had an unbelievable atmosphere. And, when clothing designer Alexander Wang walked in with a troop of models and started ordering pizza and champagne, they knew this was a combination they wanted to bring home with them. Saint’s pizza embodies this authenticity – imported flour, handmade local buffalo mozzarella and the freshest ingredients. Each pizza features a maximum of three to four toppings – unlike other local offerings. High standards and consistency are key – if a pizza isn’t the right size, right shape, has too much sauce or there isn’t a simplicity and balance of flavour, it doesn’t make the serve.

Ristorante La Trinita

Ristorante La Trinita is a hidden gem in Johannesburg, renowned for its authentic Italian flavours and warm hospitality. This family-run eatery brings the heart of Italy to South Africa with handcrafted, wood-fired pizzas, fresh pasta, and rich, traditional sauces. Their pizza, made with high-quality ingredients and perfected dough, is a must-try, offering a true Neapolitan experience. With a cosy atmosphere and an inviting ambience, La Trinita is perfect for romantic dinners, family gatherings, or special occasions. Guests rave about their exceptional service and delectable menu, making it one of Johannesburg’s top-rated Italian restaurants. A true taste of Italy awaits!

Lupa Osteria

Bringing authentic Roman dining to the city, Lupa Osteria is just the place to visit if you’re looking to delight the taste buds with some hearty and full of flavour. We really love the sounds of their Yoga Bunny (Napoletana sauce, vegan mozzarella, roasted butternut, Piquanté Peppers, vegan basil pesto, avo and rocket); The Amy (butternut, feta, caramelised onion, pumpkin seeds and rocket); and the Massimo Calzone (tomato, mozzarella, ham, mushrooms, feta, caramelised onions and Parmesan, served with sliced avo and brushed with garlic butter).
