The complex consists of The Wits Theatre with 367 seats in an adaptable auditorium. Its foyer contains bar and cafetaria facilities, Cafe Dulce. The Downstairs Theatre is directly below it, and was designated "store room" on the original plan by the architect Don Lennard but now houses a versatile experimental theatre with its own foyer which also serves as an exhibition space, the venue seats 120. The Wits Theatre also contains the Great Hall which seats up to 1035 and has a rich heritage that dates back to the world premiere of the SA musical, King Kong and beyond. The Wits Theatre Complex is a popular venue for local and international excellence such as the FNB Dance Umbrella and the Johannesburg Musical Society. There is also more than enough undercover parking for all three theatres within the WIts Theatre complex.
