The TOPS at SPAR Wine Show returns with two #MORE online entry-level wines courses in partnership with South Africa’s top wine educator, Cathy Marston! These fun and interactive online courses are an absolute must if you have a love for wine, want to brush up on your vino knowledge, or simple miss those lovely wine tasting sessions. Best of all, you get to enjoy these courses in the comfort of your own home.
The content of these courses has been curated following feedback from the first two courses and will be an interactive, fun way to connect with friends whilst social distancing. Whether you’re just straight up bored of doing the same old things while in lockdown or really not keen on going out to the park in the cold, joining one of these courses, opening a bottle of wine and learning the thing or two with Cathy Marston is certainly something unique and different to try!

About The Two Online Courses
The two entry-level courses –
A Newbie’s Guide to Wine and Local & Lekker: Focus on SA Wine – are packaged into
four live 60-minute online Zoom sessions.
Each session begins with some informative theory presented by Cathy Marston, followed by an interactive, practical tasting session to practice what you have learnt. You will also have access to downloadable course material and a course recording after each session, and the opportunity to engage in live Q&As with Cathy Marston online. It's just like an online wine club with the added bonus of upskilling!
The first session of
A Newbie’s Guide to Wine will walk you through the ABCs of wine, while the last two sessions will delve into Great Whites and Romantic Reds. The course ends on a high note unveiling the Mystery of Pinks & Pairing.
For those on a quest for a deeper understanding,
Local & Lekker – Focus on SA Wine shines a spotlight on local cultivars, styles and regions in session one,
WINEderful Whites and session two,
Robust and Red. Session three focuses on sweet, fortified wines and the fourth session ends on a high note, with WINEderlanders learning about South Africa’s finest MCCs and bubbles.

When Are These Online Courses?
A Newbie’s Guide to Wine course will run on
21, 23, 28 and 30 July 2020 while the
Local & Lekker – Focus on SA Wine course will run on
18, 20, 25 and 27 August 2020. Just remember to book your spots as soon as possible! These courses sold out fast the first time round!
Both courses are presented live by Cathy Marston via a provided Zoom link and consist of four sessions each, taking place from 18:00 to 19:00 every Tuesday and Thursday over two weeks. Registration closes the Monday before the first session.
