Why You Need To Visit The Soweto Towers!

We all know and love the Soweto Towers. It's one of the city's most iconic structures. Two cooling towers covered in vibrant graffiti. Can't miss them! This also makes the prime spot to do something daring and have an adventure. The first thing that comes to mind when think of or even seeing the Soweto Towers is – BUNGEE! But this isn't the only fun activity they have to offer. There are way more action-packed thrills to do here. Here's why you need to visit.

Of Course, Bungee Jumping!

Is bungee jumping on your bucket list? Then head to the Soweto Towers and brave the 100m bungee from the suspension bridge between the cooling towers. This is one of the popular activities that both locals and tourists do when they visit Soweto. And remember: if you don't snap and post it, it never happened! Feeling daring? Then go all the way and take the plunge, literally!

They do not take bookings, but work on a first-come-first-serve basis. Cost for the bungee jump is R630 per person*. There are also discounts for groups of 6 or more, which will cost R580 per person*.

SCAD Freefall

Next on the adrenaline checklist is the SCAD Freefall – AKA the suspended catch air device freefall. This a favourite among adrenaline junkies. This is the world’s highest SCAD freefall, which can be found inside the Soweto Tower's Western Cooling Tower. So, if you are looking for the ultimate thrill, there's one more thing to add to your bucket list, and SCAD Freefall is it!

The SCAD Freefall costs R400 per person*. And in groups of 6 or more, it'll cost R360 per person*. Again, no booking required as the activity is on a first-come-first-serve basis.

Straitjacket Bungee

Talking about bungee jumping, how about the version with a twist – Straitjacket Bungee Jumping! With this adrenaline-packed activity, you'll wear their custom made straitjacket and leap off the edge of the suspension bridge without the use of your arms. Scary stuff right?

How much? This activity will cost R1 030 per person*, and is offered on a first-come-first-serve basis. Will you brave this one?

Paintball at Soweto Towers

Would rather stay away from the action-packed activities that includes height? Not a problem! Why not gather a few of your friends and enjoy some competitive fun playing a round of paintball? The fun takes place inside the bottom of the Western Cooling Tower. The cost includes 200 paintballs, one cylinder refill, one mask, and overall rental per person.

Cost is R160 per person* and unlike the abovementioned activities, you need to book before you visit the Soweto Towers.

Wall Climbing

Another must that doesn't involve much altitude is the Soweto Tower's Climbing Wall. This is an ideal activity to feed your inner adventurer without jumping off a cooling tower. The 25m climbing wall is the perfect opportunity to challenge your abilities from different angles.

Cost is R48 per person* and bookings for this activity is necessary. Also, if you pay upfront, you'll qualify for a 20% discount for groups of 10 or more when making your booking.

And Let's Not Forget The View

When you get to the top of the Soweto Tower, the view is is incredible. Head up the side of the Western Cooling Tower in the lift, and enjoy a 360 degree view of Soweto from their viewing platform. Sites of Soweto doesn't get any better than this.

Cost for this viewing is R80 per person*. And if you book for a group of 10 or more, you'll get a discount.
