What Is It?
While We Hate asks the tough questions, with a pinch of humour and lots of careful introspection. This play directed and written by Niza Jay, shines a light on the stories of members of the LGBTQIA+ community who have been victims of hate crimes. Interweaving character narratives and unlikely storytellers propel these stories forward through a series of vignettes and audio-visual transitions.
Overall, the play asks audiences to question how and why they become complicit in the ill treatment of those considered to be ‘minorities’. Who suffers while we hate each other, in the name of morality, religion, and personal conviction?
While We Hate is adapted from real life events, newspaper headlines and news reports.
