Where To Donate Your Old Clothes

Joburg Admin / June 1, 2023

The Storehouse

The Storehouse is a non-profit, affiliated with Hatfield Christian Church, that provides clothing and non-perishable food to needy families via a network of registered organisations.

They source donations of clothing, non-perishables, blankets and household goods from the community, churches, schools and a number of chain stores. These donations are cleaned and sorted and then packaged according to specific requests from the various registered charity organisations. The items are then distributed through these organisations to individuals and establishments in need.

Through this charitable organisation’s core values of love, compassion, patience, respect, justice and hospitality, these houses are known as places of peace. Irrespective of faith, gender or background, the Catholic sisters who run Nazareth Houses will welcome everyone.

Kids Haven

Kids Haven was established in 1992 with the vision of serving the homeless children, as well as children in crisis, in the Ekurhuleni region. Everything Kids Haven does is focused on protecting these children and giving them a brighter future.

Kids Haven welcomes donations of second-hand clothing and goods. The organisation’s first priority is to keep what is needed to address the children’s immediate needs. Items that do not fulfil an immediate need are distributed to the needy in the community. Alternatively, they are sold through two charity shops in Benoni. The income that is raised through the charity shops is put back into Kids Haven to assist with operating costs. The sorting of donations and charity shop sales in turn also provides employment for 12 people. Kids Haven offers a collection service for donations. Call them to arrange a time and location.

Vintage, With Love

Vintage, with Love, is the brainchild of two fashion-forward women who do their part for the community by coordinating fashion and charity into a single event – a vintage fashion sale. With life in the fast lane, we often wish we could do our part for charity but struggle to find the time. Vintage, with Love, acts as a platform for women who want to take part in a project that raises money for charitable causes, specifically literacy programmes. All you need to do is clear out your wardrobe!

Show your support by donating pre-loved clothing items and then come and shop at the biggest vintage sale Gauteng has ever seen. Vintage, with Love sale dates, are available on their Facebook page. Donations can be collected or you can drop your clothing donations off at Desray in Brooklyn Mall.
