What To Expect
"Art Effect" unites four choreographic voices and explores movement as an artistic statement through a dynamic synthesis of classical technique, individual expression, and cultural story.
New York choreographer Jessica Lang's "Vivace Motifs" is a re-enactment of her elegant ballet for six dancers, with Baroque-inspired gestures and music by Handel and Corelli.
The visual artist, Greatjoy Ndlovu, collaborated with Lex and Holly Gruver on "Postures," transforming his human figures' emotive charcoal work into movement and exploring physical manifestations of optimism through a classical contemporary approach.
American dancer and choreographer, Lauren Lovette's neoclassical duet "Game On" humorously encapsulates the spirit of rivalry. Roseline Wilkins of Vuyani Dance's "Rosie" is the first instance of WGRUV in African modern language.
Decius Pitjadi and Tommy Gruver, two live percussionists, contribute to this intimate and moving piece.
West Rand locals, Lisa Stapelberg, Jenna Groves, and Nicola Tolmay are excited to perform for their hometown supporters at the Roodepoort run of Art Effect.
"Art Effect" is a stage production that combines dance, music, and art to engage the mind and touch the heart. Come see performances by WGRUV Dance Company that are full of beauty, significance, and amazing dance.
