Ways To Circulate Fresh Air At Home

Joburg Admin / March 20, 2020

While we are stuck at home because of the COVID-19 outbreak, it is important to get fresh air. But the question is: how do we get it? Here are a few simple steps to implement to get clean, fresh air:

Vacuum

Most of us don't enjoy hauling around the vacuum cleaner, but it is necessary for fresh air. By vacuuming, you'll remove excess dirt and dust, leaving your surroundings fresher and cleaner.

Mattress Love

Mattresses hold much more dirt than most of us realise. Mattresses are a sponge for dead skin particles, hair and dust, providing the perfect breeding ground for dust mites. So, give your mattress a good clean every now and then, you can do this by vacuuming it and by letting it air out. And, don't forget to wash your bedding!

Plants

Getting some plants is a great way to ensure your home has plenty of fresh air. If you are't lucky enough to have a garden, get some pot plants for your home. Tip: invest in a Spekboom. This plant fights air pollution and purifies air, so it's good for you and the environment.

Limit Fires

When the inevitable loadshedding hits, try to avoid lighting candles. Instead, use LED of solar lighting. Also, avoid burning wood, as the smoke it gives off is not very good for the air.

No Smoking In The House

Smoking causes a lot of air pollution and sticks to clothing and furniture. So, to keep the air indoors fresh and clean, limit smoking to the outside of the house.

Ditch The Air Con

As pleasing as it can be sometimes, an air con is not your best option. The harsh reality is that the air is not fresh and can be hazardous to those with respiratory illnesses.

Open The Window

Opening the window is a simple, yet effective way to get fresh air as is allows clean air to circulate throughout the house.

Dust

Dust all surfaces regularly to avoid unnecessary dust in the air.
