Warm Up This Winter At The Hussar Grill Morningside

Joburg Admin / May 10, 2016

Situated in the trendy Morningside Shopping Centre, you’ll find an elegant steakhouse by the name of The Hussar Grill. Being a former Capetonian, you can only imagine my excitement that one of my hometown’s finest restaurants is now in Joburg, and in my opinion, it’s one of the best spots to warm up this winter! I mean, is there anything better than an evening filled with red wine, world-class steaks and decadent desserts? FotorCreated1 When you enter the restaurant, you’re sure to feel as if you’re walking to a Dickens’ library, or Cluedo’s Billiard Room. The sophisticated, old school-style feel is nothing short of charming, not to mention gloriously cosy. They may have had a couple of teething issues in the beginning, but you can now be assured that the restaurant provides enthusiastic, hands-on management as well as knowledgeable, efficient service. Take your pick of a table inside where the décor is vintage, the lighting is moody, and the atmosphere is warm, or otherwise in the enclosed outside section where everything’s a bit more vibrant. Onto more pressing matters, on the menu you’ll find a number of tantalising options to pick from. On the starters side, the Cured Springbok Loin Carpaccio and Prawn & Fresh Avo Cocktail are my two favourites. FotorCreated When it comes to mains, you’re spoilt for choice with a variety of house specialties, steaks, grills, on-the-bone meats, lighter grills, seafood and poultry dishes dishes on offer. Both the Rump Steak and Fillet on the Bone are winners here, however the Grilled Kingklip and Calamari are just as pleasing. Be sure to come thirsty as well, as the restaurant offers up a top-notch wine list that’s sure to impress even the most discerning palate. If you’re clever enough to save room for dessert, I recommend indulging in the ever-so-decadent Chocolate Fondant, or the sweet and sticky traditional Malva Pudding. Go on and please your taste buds this winter – The Hussar Grill Morningside is an ideal place to pop into for a whiskey, to enjoy a long, lazy lunch, or to tuck into a hearty dinner. They tick all of the boxes – sublime food, a great wine list, superb service and an elegant ambiance – so what are you waiting for?
