Walk For A Purpose At The 2016 Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon For Breast Cancer Awareness

Joburg Admin / September 28, 2016

Walk For A Purpose at the country’s largest breast cancer awareness event, the annual Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon. With over 25 500 participants last year, this walkathon has become the biggest single day event held purely to generate awareness for breast cancer. Breast cancer is the leading type of cancer in women, which makes education and awareness essential since most cases are treatable when diagnosed in time. With Avon Justine’s funding of the Breast Health Foundation’s education programme, generous donations, and involvement with the walkathon, they’re addressing these key issues and spreading the word that early detection does save lives. Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon Walk The Walk And Spread The Word! The 2016 iThemba Walkathon will be initiated in waves, with designated groups of up to 10 000 people beginning their walk for a purpose. Water stations will be available at different points of the 7.9km or 5km routes, but participants are encouraged to also have their own water for themselves (and their four-legged companions) so they can stay hydrated while fully enjoying this epic event. At the finish line, there will be a number of exciting activities with nutriphase, who will also be giving away prizes and treats for friendly dogs. Locum Vet will also be onsite to assist your furry companions with minor issues, such as scuffed paws. Avon Justine iThemba Walkathon Walkers will once again have the opportunity to be part of a historic moment through the #PoutForAPurpose world record attempt at this year’s walkathon. In line with the company’s Beauty for A Purpose mission, this will be an Avon world record attempt for the most number of people applying lipstick at the same event. For those not based in Johannesburg – put on your pinkest Avon pout, take a photograph and upload it to social media using the hashtag #PoutForAPurpose. There Will Be Loads Of Entertainment With an exciting lineup of live Entertainment planned, including Kaya FM DJs, e-tv's Sunrise presenters, and other local artists, as well as numerous enterprising food stalls and other activities, participants will be able to relax and enjoy the rest of the day with family and friends after their walk.
