The much-anticipated Vaal River Wine Expo returns on Saturday, 30 May 2026, marking an impressive 23 years of the Vaal River Meander Wine Route – Gauteng’s oldest and most celebrated wine route. Hosted at the picturesque Pont de Val from 12:00 to 17:00, this flagship event promises an unforgettable day of wine, entertainment, and riverside indulgence.
Limited to just 2,000 tickets, the Expo offers exceptional value at R300 per person. Guests can enjoy tastings of over 200 wines from leading South African vineyards, along with a complimentary branded wine glass to take home. The experience is further elevated with live entertainment and a curated selection of unique vendor stalls and on-site attractions, creating a vibrant and social atmosphere along the banks of the Vaal River.
The Wine Expo also officially kicks off the Vaal River Meander Wine Route, which runs from 6 June to 26 July 2026. Taking place every Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday from 12:00 to 18:00, the Wine Route invites visitors to explore 12 stunning venues, each offering a distinct and memorable wine experience.
For just R80, guests can enjoy tastings of eight wines at participating venues, with the added opportunity to travel between stops by water taxi or road. From sipping premium wines aboard luxury river cruisers to discovering exclusive winter specials at each venue, the Wine Route offers a relaxed yet refined way to experience the region during the winter season.
