Upcoming Digital Arts Festivals To Look Forward To

UJ Arts & Culture - UNFESTIVAL

UJ Arts & Culture present the UNFESTIVAL - a week-long series of "un-events, non-happenings, non-workshops and a smorgasbord of nothing." Hosted in aid of the UJ FADA Dean's Bursary Fund and BASA's COVID-19 artist relief measures, the UNFESTIVAL promises to be deliriously funny and intentionally ironic in its non-existence. The festival calls attention to the plight of students and artists during these dire times, critiquing the sudden turn to digital media to reach audiences. Nevertheless, UJ Arts & Culture is asking their loyal patrons and lovers of the arts to donate to the Dean's Bursary Fund by purchasing tickets to these non-shows. Check out the full 'lineup' of performances, exhibitions and workshops here. We'll (not) see you there! Dates: Tuesday, 26 May 2020 – Saturday, 06 June 2020. The Clanstival Music & Digital Interactive Festival

The KZN Midlands Art Festival draws in hundreds of visitors from across the country. This family-orientated festival usually takes place in September each year. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and national lockdown, things are set to change in 2020. Cue the Clanstival Music and Digital Interactive Festival - a full weekend of online content to enjoy with the whole family. The Clanstival Music and Digital Interactive Festival will welcome local and global audiences for daily performances from musicians, actors, students and digital exhibitors. Come and see the likes of Kevin Fraser, Elvis Blue, The Parlotones and The Gugulethu Tenors perform out of Hilton College to your home this June. Don't miss it! Dates: Thursday, 25 June 2020 – Monday, 29 June 2020 between 17:00 – 20:00 daily. Ticket price: Tickets cost R20 per family for full weekend viewing. Get yours here. The National Arts Festival

With just 100 days to go until the annual Makhanda National Arts Festival, organisers announced that the festival would be going fully digital for the first time ever! This was to protect not only the thousands of expected visitors, but to ensure that the artists would still be able to make a profit and have their work seen by their peers, critics and you, the audience. The 2020 National Arts Festival is set to take place over 11 days, bringing you an array of cutting-edge digital content to indulge in from the safety of your own home. You can expect some live performances, a few pre-recorded events and tons of innovation at this year's festival. Digital visitors will also be able to support the local tradespeople who would've exhibited their crafts at the Standard Bank Village Green market with their new virtual market feature. For more information about how the 2020 National Arts Festival will unfold online, click here. Dates: Thursday, 25 June 2020 - Sunday, 5 July 2020. Details: Visit the NAF website for more information or contact them via email at [email protected].
