Top 5 Ways To Wake Up Feeling Refreshed

Stay Away From That Wine!

If wine is basically your life (come on, you can own up), this might seem impossible. Having a glass of wine (or two) in the evening may seem like a good idea as it helps you drift off into sleep, however, research has shown that drinking wine, or alcohol in general actually disrupts your sleep further on in the night. This disruption could be anything from waking up to a visit to the bathroom during the night or sleeping lightly, which doesn’t allow your body to fully recharge, which means you’ll wake up feeling sluggish. So, take our advice if you’ve got an early morning ahead!

Keep A Window Open

This is easier to do in summer because it’s often too hot to sleep with all windows closed anyway, however, even in winter, make sure your room is well-ventilated, allowing fresh air in during the night. The build-up of carbon dioxide and moisture in a room without ventilation is likely to get uncomfortable and potentially break up your sleep, meaning you’re probably going to wake up feeling grumpy - and we don’t want that, do we?

Stay Hydrated

We have all heard it countless times - to drink water, that is! Sure, it all becomes tedious but perhaps the tediousness should be derived from the action of drinking water and not the command of it. It may not seem essential to drink as much water as recommended (two to three liters a day) but it’s a key tip when it comes to waking up feeling ready to tackle the day. Try drinking a warm glass of lemon water before bed - this helps relax your body. To feel extra refreshed in the morning, drink a cool glass of lemon water and you’re good to go.

Be Active

It helps to plan out the following day just before bed. Whether you physically plan out your outfit and pack your lunch for convenience in the morning, or just mentally lay out a skeleton of your to-do list, this all motivates your brain and body to rest up and recharge for the next day. Once up, before hitting the gym if you are a morning gym person, you should still do a few stretches and jumping jacks to increase blood-flow and get oxygen to your brain. This wakes you up and simultaneously releases happy hormones that make you feel good.

De-Clutter And Tidy Up

It’s important to de-clutter your room and create a ‘rested’ welcoming place. You have probably already noticed that, when your bedroom is neat and tidy, you wake up feeling more rested and refreshed as opposed to when your room is a mess. A messy room could reflect on your subconscious mind, so clearing it out and allowing the flow of energy to transcend is likely to help you sleep better and wake up feeling great. In any case, what are the chances of waking up feeling refreshed in a cluttered room? Keep it tidy, wake up refreshed. Simple as that!
