In light of the COVID-19 outbreak worldwide, theatre shows have come to a grinding halt. The Shows Must Go On live streaming event. Each
Friday during May, one of Lloyd Webber's most beloved musicals will go
'live' via his YouTube channel. Each show will
run for 48 hours, so you can access the stage magic throughout the weekend.
The series kicked off with
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat on 3 April 2020, starring Donny Osmond, Maria Friedman, Richard Attenborough and Joan Collins. The 2012 production of
Jesus Christ Superstar, with Tim Minchin, Melanie C and Chris Moyles followed, with perhaps Lloyd Webber's most famous musical up next this Friday -
Cats! Starring Elaine Paige, John Partridge, Jacob Brent, Jason Gardiner and Sir John Mills.
In a short announcement, Andrew Lloyd Webber also hinted that his 1975 disaster musical
By Jeeves will be included on the Shows Must Go On programme sometime in the near future.
