What Is It?

Watch the biggest blockbusters on the big screen, every Thursday to Sunday until 19 September 2021 at The City Drive-In, located on the rooftop parking of Sandton City. This offers visitors and families an opportunity to enjoy movie viewing entertainment safely, in the comfort of their own cars. “Sandton City is thrilled to be the owner of The City Drive-In, and to present this monumental addition to the public,” says Preston Gaddy, General Manager of Sandton City. “The City Drive-In is a great differentiator for the property and offers customers the opportunity to engage in a shared entertainment experience, from the safety and comfort of a controlled, socially distant space.” There is a movie for everyone, from modern classics to new releases, and everything else in between. Look forward to movies like The Greatest Showman, Black Panther and Beauty and the Beast. The City Drive-In will re-open with a screening of Mortal Kombat. Every weekend, there are two screenings, with a matinée screening on both Saturday and Sunday, suitable for all ages. Sandton City is a COVID-19 compliant, SAFE certified shopping centre; and with safety as a priority, the following measures must be adhered to while visiting The City Drive-In. Masks are compulsory, and should be worn correctly at all times, outside of vehicles. Physical distancing must also be practiced, with patrons standing at least two metres apart. Sanitising stations are strategically located throughout The City Drive-In, and should be used frequently. Safety Precautions In Place

During these unpredictable and uncertain times, Covid-19 safety protocols and precautions are of utmost importance to slow the spread of the virus. Sandton City is a Covid-19 compliant, SAFE certified shopping centre, and here, your safety remains their top priority. For the safety of yourself, your family and those around you, be sure to adhere to the following precautionary measures while visiting The City Drive-In and Sandton City:
  • When leaving your car, wear your mask correctly at all times, covering your nose and mouth.
  • Practice physical distancing, Stand at least 2m away from others around you.
  • Sanitise your hands regularly using their sanitising stations, placed throughout the centre.

You can visit the Sandton City Drive-In powered by Ster-Kinekor Thursday to Sunday nights until Sunday, 19 September 2021. The movie screening times may vary. You can find the drive-in on the Sandton City rooftop! You'll be able to find access using the ramp to Tiger Wheel & Tyre, just off Sandton Drive. Or, to find it a little easier, click here to take the suggested Waze route.

How Much Is It?

To experience the Sandton City Drive-In, be sure to purchase your tickets at Quicket.co.za. Tickets cost from R200 per car, but be sure to book well in advance, as tickets are selling out quickly! Do note, that there is a booking fee of R5 when you book your ticket.
